You Don't Need 50+ Face Washes
I'm getting straight to it in this one because I've been through too many products over the years.
If you want the best results from your skincare products, it's simple. The first thing you must know your skin type. The best way to know your skin type is by scheduling an appointment with a dermatologist. Once you know your skin type, it’s really simple to know the skincare products that best fit your skin.
There are five common skin types;
- Oily skin; usually greasy and prone to acne breakouts.
- Sensitive skin; usually reacts badly to new products.
- Dry skin; usually is rough, itchy, and flaky.
- Normal skin; neither too oily nor dry.
- Combination skin; a combination of oily and dry skin.
If you have sensitive skin, you may opt for “fragrance-free” products to avoid skin irritation. In general, you shouldn’t buy products containing comedogenic ingredients if you have oily or acne-prone skin (regardless of how well packaged the product is) as they clog your pores and force breakouts.
A quality recommendation is going for a product that contains low concentrate alpha hydroxyl (AHA) or natural detoxifiers. In simple terms, use a light face wash that contains acids or a natural face wash. If you opt for products with chemical acids, monitor the percentage of the active ingredients.
As a rule of thumb, I recommend the all-natural route. Either way, these properties help remove dead skin cells, reduce pigmentation, prevent breakouts and clogging, and renew your skin.
